With its name from the peninsula of the same name, Kanoni offers its visitors a spectacular view of the chapel of Vlacherna, which dates back to the 17th century and is one of its most famous and characteristic attractions island.
Behind it dominates the famous Ponticonisi, the rock with the tall cypress trees standing around a Pantokrator's chapel. The view overlaps (especially in the afternoon hours) with the natural beauty of the sheltered ancient harbor of Hylippos (today's Chalikipoulou lagoon) combined with the green vegetation.

A stroll with the atmosphere of another era
The Old Town of Corfu is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007. Built according to the Venetian medieval architectural style, the Old Town offers an endless sherry in its picturesque bay. A Journey to the Middle Ages
The Old Fortress dominates the heart of the old city and rewards its visitors with stunning views of the old town and the crystal blue waters of the island. The magnificent Old Fortress was built in 1546 by the Venetians.
It is accessible from Esplanade via a bridge, the famous Contra Fossa, measuring 15 meters of depth and 40 meters of width.
The New Fortress was also built by the Venetians in 1577 to protect the city from the Turks. You can wander around and explore the empty stone halls and passages or reach to the top to capture stunning pictures of the old city and its numerous distinctive buildings and houses.
